This book is "an illustrated tour of the night sky"
Inside this book you will learn about our solar system, mixed with some mythology and a beautifully illustrated collection.

What a stunning table book!  This is definitely one of those books that you'd want on display.  It is pretty heavy.  The covers are beautiful and have holographic constellations in the artwork and book title.  That alone will make you say, "Oooo!" upon picking it up.  Turn to the inside and you will be equally fascinated!
Not only is this book beautifully put together, the inside is full of unexpected information about our beautiful night sky and it's ancient mysteries backed by information about our constellations, mythical creatures, phases of our moon, information about our solar system and beyond, etc.
I was definitely not disappointed with this one.  It was so artistic and creatively put together. Illustrator has a great aesthetic. Just loved this book.

That's me! I'm a Libra. :)

Book Review: The Book of Greens by Jenn Louis

The Big Book of Greens
A Cook's Compendium

By Jenn Louis
With Kathleen Squires

ISBN 978-1-60774-984-4
Retails for U.S. $35.00/ $47.00 CAN

This highly detailed and very organized resource book includes nearly 200 recipes on ways to prepare greens in ways you can eat every day.

Prior to this book, I was only truly familiar with only a few different greens and I could probably count on one hand the ways to prepare them.  So imagine my surprise when I opened this book up and saw how many new ways to prepare dishes with greens apart from just basic salads!
I'm talking infusions, smoothies, sauces, alcoholic beverages, gnocchi, etc.

(How yum does that look?)

I really enjoyed this cookbook and I would recommend it to anybody who loves eating and cooking with leafy greens and herbs especially my Vegan friends.

This is a beautiful book and each page is as crisp as the photographs of greens inside. Truly a book you won't just want to look at one time. You will find yourself looking for ways to use different green varieties.

If the informative mini history lessons don't draw you in, then the drawings will. I was engaged the entire time reading.  The illustrations are really well done.  Great concept, well delivered. I look forward to more work from Sam Kalda.

I rate this book a 5/5.

This book would make a fantastic Father's Day gift for the cat loving man in your life!

Edited by Catherine Burns

ISBN: 978-1-101-90440-4
Biography & Autobiography
Personal Memoirs
Retails for $ 25.00 US/ $34.00 CAN

From the storytelling phenomenon The Moth, All These Wonders presents forty-five unforgettable true stories about risk, courage, and facing the unknown, drawn from the very best ever told on their stages. Storytellers share the ventures into uncharted territory-and how their lives were changed indelibly by what they discovered there. With passion and humor, they encourage us all to be more open, vulnerable, and alive.

I really enjoyed All These Wonders.  I was not initially familiar with The Moth, but once I started reading, I quickly became fascinated, and even discovered an online podcast to listen too. All of the stories in the book were beautifully told and very diverse. Each story very different from the next. They seemed to transport you through time. If you need an inspiring short story to read, then grab this book because there are 45 of them that are so passionately told.

The book is a hardcover book and the cover design is beautiful. It's got an embossed moth in gold on it which alone is so fascinating it makes you want to pick up the book. The inside has thick pages and black dividers for each section covering different topics.  Would look great on a coffee table post read as well! This book would be enjoyed by most adults.

Book Review: That's So 90s Pop

That's So 90s Pop!
Activity Book
Cover and Illustrations by Patrick Sullivan
ISBN: 978-0-451-49954-7
Retails for: $12.00 US / $17.50 CAN

This coloring/activity book is jammed packed with some of your favorite 90s celebrities from the pop genre. Inside you will not only find coloring pages, you will find trivia, fun facts, mazes, word puzzles, etc.  There is even a cut out Carson Daly mask!

What a blast from the past it is to see some of my favorite 90s celebrities drawn in their actual likeness. I liked that you can actually tell which celebrity each colored page was before reading the names on the bottom.  Being able to color them was really fun! The activities included keep the book more interesting than just plain coloring. True or False, Two Truths and a Lie, Hangman are games I played in the 90s with my friends, so this book brought back lots of memories of watching Carson Daly host TRL and watch the countdown to the number one song of the day/week.

In this book, no two pages are alike and it absolutely does not disappoint.  Would definitely be a great gift for anybody born in 80s/90s/2000s or anybody who just enjoyed pop music from that time.

Book Review: Raising a Young Modern-Day Princess by Doreen Hanna & Karen Whiting

Raising a Young Modern-Day Princess
Growing the Fruit of the Spirit in Your Little Girl
By Doreen Hanna & Karen Whitling
ISBN: 978-1-58997-866-9
Religion/Christian Life/Family
Retails for $14.99

This book is a resource book for parents on how to raise daughters according to biblical principles.

First impression, looking at the cover of this book I thought to myself, "What an adorable photo!" This could be any little girl on the cover. Could be one of my own. Or even yours. As parents we all initially see our little girls as princesses-- pink, dainty and frilly. At least before they're born that's what you imagine right away. You have all of these sincere hopes and dreams for their lives planned out. Sometimes life throws you some curve balls and your children surprise you along the way. Sometimes they turn out differently than you imagined!

In my home, I have 3 daughters and only one of them sees herself as an actual "princess".
My youngest daughter lives in princess dresses and likes to feel pretty 24/7, while my middle child is the exact opposite and is a tomboy in every sense. My oldest is special needs so she doesn't particularly have a preference to how she is perceived by others, although to me as her mother, I've always seen her as a sweet little princess too.   Regardless of my daughter's outward appearances, all of them are true princesses of the King, meaning the Lord.  I know this because I see the pure and honest good in their hearts and the way I parent them with excessive nurturing is shaping them to be amazing people.  (Mom brag!)

Anyways, this darling book is a one that encourages parents to pass on the value and true meaning of being a PRINCESS (aka Child of God) who the author describes as being:

From the beginning of your time together, we are teaching our children to abide by certain mannerisms, behaviors, and how to eventually become adults who make good choices.

This book covers conversation topics that will help guide you, no matter where you on in your journey. A beautiful thing about this particular book is that I can open it at any time and find something useful in it. The reminders inside often speak directly to me and leave me feeling truly inspired.

I recommend this book to all parents of little princesses. If the activities inside don't get you excited, then perhaps the Fruit of the Spirit verses will, because they're so uplifting and encouraging. You can always reference back to fun activities and toolboxes, and so can Dad!

Learn to draw, design and color your own super-magical and beautiful fairies!
