About:
Hipster Animals A Field Guide is an illustrated pocket guide to the hipsters across America. This book helps the reader identify these urban wildlife in their natural habitats.

Summary:
I absolutely loved this book because I too, am a hipster animal! This book is not only funny, it's informative and all of the references in here are sure to get anybody laughing. The sarcastic tone is mild but legit. The purpose of this book is to poke fun at pop culture stereotypes of those who classify as hipster. There are so many types and by reading this book, you can pinpoint what your friends are, what your family members may be, and you might discover your own inner spirit animal.

What's neat is this book also covers varying food trucks, what to buy at a farmer's market, most popular haircuts, and the Gentrification Cycle. The illustrations are seriously so good. Very bright and colorful and very well thought of. Each one helps bring the character descriptions to life.
I seriously cracked up at a lot of them!

I'd definitely recommend this book to anybody who takes life too seriously.
I think I've found a new favorite author!

Book Review: Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World by Kristen Welch

Raising Kids in an Entitled World
By Kristen Welch
ISBN: 978-1-4964-0529-6
Retails for $15.99

Teaching your children to say "thank you" for things in life is one thing, but teaching them to be grateful is another. Raising Kids in and Entitled World is a Christian lifestyle parenting book that helps the reader connect with some of the most practical parenting advice.

It's easy to get lost in this confusing ride that is parenting and we ultimately all we seek in life is to make our children happy. Sometimes that comes with a price. When you have the ability to always say yes, greed sets in sometimes and we often overindulge in our children through many ways and then they wind up becoming selfish and needy.

During times of failure, children need positive and constructive interaction. If we offer too much grace and not enough discipline, or vice versa then we lose sight of our children's best interests.

This book offers suggestions on how to encourage our children how to become more selfless through conversation topics and activity ideas to establish new rules or family habits.

What I really liked about this book was the ease of reading. This is a book that makes you question all the important stuff and helps open your eyes to possibilities. Parenting is hard work, but with this book and some of it's suggestions, we can be reminded to encourage ourselves to put Christ first and pray for our children. We are raising the future and the are living examples for our children. Our children are always watching us. Let's show them the way!

I feel like this book is perfect for new parents and experienced parents alike. There is something to be learned by everybody in here. This 243 page paper book is beautiful and the layout in which the text is typed makes this book extremely easy to read.

Book Review: Frost Bible

Frost Bible
Tommy Nelson Publishers
ISBN: 978-0-7180-3947-9

Suggested age:7-10+ years

So this Bible has to be one of the most attractive Children's Bibles out there, but that is really all that it is. It's not associated with the Frozen movie at all, which was a huge disappointment to my daughters who happen to be huge fans of the Frozen movie.
The blue cover, features a holographic snowflake surrounding the words Holy Bible, and the rest of the cover has little snowflakes and glitter all around the book. This is a pretty heavy hardcover Bible with 1312 pages.  The pages are pretty and the color inserts were a great addition to this book though. The Bible even came with a free tote bag.  You can tell this Bible was created with little girls in mind.   This would make a great stocking stuffer for any little girl who likes all things pretty, or Frozen "suggested".

Review: OZ Naturals 50% Glycolic Acid Micro Peel

ABOUT:
Oz Naturals face peel contains 50% Glycolic Acid, which is a micro chemical peel that helps to exfoliate your skin by dissolving dead skin cells and improving the texture of your skin.

Detailed Instructions:

IMPRESSION:

I am not going to sugar coat this. This product BURNED my skin. When I say burned, I mean it felt like somebody set fire to my face!!

Before I upset anybody, let me be clear on something..  I followed the directions perfectly and even neutralized my skin afterwards but I still ended up getting a really bad burn on my face from this product. I did expect it in a way, because it is a Glycolic Acid Peel, after all. This one was a mild one too. The product had a very strong chemical smell and it made my eyes water right away.

The burning sensation was almost immediate. (*see photo attached from 2 minutes after use!) I left the product on for less than the suggested time and immediately neutralized. My skin felt raw and very tingly and then just sore. The next day is when I really started to pay for it. My skin burned so bad.  I was afraid I didn't follow the instructions right, but after carefully re-reading them, I realized that I did in fact do what I was supposed to do, and that I do have sensitive skin when using this product, so no matter if I followed the instructions, the results were likely to be the same.

My face over the next 15 days was the grossest it has ever been in my life. My jaw and the areas around my nose and mouth specifically were the areas the most affected and they shed several layers of stratum corneum.. aka the top 5 layers of skin. I seriously went through the motions here. I experienced very tight skin, then very scaly and dry skin, and then horrible flaking/peeling. My emotions were up and down during this process as well. I was miserable, in pain, sad & most definitely did not want to go out in public or be social with anybody outside of my home! Thankfully, slowly but surely relief eventually happened. It was as if I was a butterfly coming out of it's cocoon.. after this long and uncomfortable process, my new skin underneath started to show through more brighter and healthier than ever before.

Some things to note:
-This product is harsh if you have sensitive skin! Please use with extreme caution. I don't mean this lightly!
-You will need to MOISTURIZE after all of this intense exfoliation. Be prepared.
-If you experience the same burn that I have described from my experience, to combat the pain I suggest using an over the counter pain medicine.
-I DO NOT RECOMMEND that you pull off the peeling skin. Let it exfoliate naturally. TRUST ME!
-I have no physical scarring.

I don't like leaving negative reviews, especially from a company I really enjoy reviewing for, however, my review is 100 % completely honest and I'd like to say that I did not have an entirely positive experience with this product. In fact it was pretty unpleasant until the healing/renewal afterwards.   I will rate this product 4/5 due to possibly user error because this product did work as directed and the warnings were included.  Having sensitive skin is something I never had to deal with prior to using this product.

Impression:

I was immediately impressed with the outward appearance of these products. Easy to read labels. Nice package designs. I have to admit, these look good in my bathroom!

Starting with the shampoo & conditioner, this is a great duo. Immediately after washing I felt the texture of my hair change. It was immediately softer and easier to finger comb through. Following my wash, I applied the Smoothing Deep Conditioner while my hair was still damp (towel dried only) and I left it in my hair for 15 minutes before rinsing. This deep conditioners fantastic and is very thick. The packet has enough for several uses for my shoulder length hair. Lastly, I used the Smoothing Shine Oil while my hair was again, still damp, and I let it hair dry. It's important to note that this oil goes a long away. It's very light weight and not sticky at all. I felt like it enhanced the over all shine of my hair.   Once my hair had dried, it was full of volume and I had very little frizz. I have naturally curly hair that I typically have to spend a long time straightening but this product helped keep the time needed on styling down!   It smells so good too. I cannot express it enough!   Nothing better than having a good hair day!

Overall, I'd say these products were pretty great. I loved the cute drawstring Hair Envy bag they came in as well. The price is what sells me. I feel these products should be more expensive considering how well they work!! The quality is so good.  Hope you give Hask and their awesome products a chance. You won't be disappointed if you do!

Review: Yoga[Addict] Premium Yoga Mat Towel & Hand Towel

Like yoga?  Good!  Me too. If you're looking for a good brand that provides high quality yoga mats, look no further.

ABOUT:
Yoga[Addict] Yoga Mat Towel and Yoga Hand Towel Combo Set
Retails for $ 24.95
72 inches

IMPRESSION:
Upon opening and removing the mat and towel from their packaging it warns that the mat and towel need to be washed right away before use, so I washed both. The color didn't fade one bit! They stayed vibrant, true to the original color and stayed very soft.  These have a great texture. Almost suede-like. When doing yoga, the material stays in place like a normal foam yoga mat. I tried with yoga socks and barefoot and had a great experience both times. No slipping. Huge plus.  The towel is very highly absorbent and is non abrasive on the skin when towel drying face and neck. Great set. I loved the color. Mine came in lavender and it was very pigmented and bright! Loved the logo on the mat as well.   Great for those new to yoga who don't want to spend a fortune! In fact, I feel these should cost more given their quality!

Book Review: The Purpose Driven Life Devotional for Kids

ABOUT:
The Purpose Driven Life Devotional for Kids
Author: Rick Warren
ISBN: 0310750466
Pages: 384
Bible/Devotional/Childrens
Retails: $11.99

IMPRESSION:
This daily 365 day devotional for children is directed at ages 8-12, but I honestly would even recommend it for adults who like simplified reading.  Sometimes reading Bibles can be overwhelming. The overall neatness of this book draws you in. From cover to cover, it is a beautiful book. You find yourself wanting to read more than one passage at at time.  As the author, Pastor Rick Warren states on the Intro page, the book is more than just a book, it's a guide book to help each individual find their own purpose in life, and plan through prayer and God's word. By reading every day you can find your way and grow in your relationship with Christ.

I love the prayer section for each day.  That means there are 365 different prayers included! Great way to wrap up your daily devotional and encourage more meaningful discussions.  I am a fan of the Pastor Rick Warren's other work  with The Purpose Driven Life, and so I was already expecting this book to be awesome as well. No surprise! No disappointment here!

This book would make a great addition to any home library and Bible collection. Definitely a bedside table book!  This would make a great stocking stuffer or Christmas gift too!

Book Review: Mr. Humblebrag

"Everybody likes a winner, as long as he acts like a loser."
 -Mr. Humblebrag

ABOUT:
Mr. Humblebrag
By Dan Zevin
ISBN: 1101904461
32 Pages
Humor
Retails for $6.99 on Amazon

IMPRESSION:

Mr. Humblebrag is a super witty parody book that describes this extravagant life that Mr. Humblebrag shares with his wife Little Miss Porn Star. He brags about all of these unrealistic achievements and assumes that his boasting is okay as long as he has a little humility about it. The validation he gets is satisfying to him because nobody understands his sarcasm.

For example, Mr. Humblebrag goes on a tropical cruise vacation, but posts to social media, "Leave it to me to twist my ankle doing the limbo, now I have to stay off my feet for a week!" while posting a photo of him and his wife sipping papaya coladas in the pool.   Somebody posted they could relate.  This makes Mr. Humblebrag feel humbled.

This parody book is for adults, although you could teach children a thing or two about how society hates and reacts to these types of people!  I personally got a good chuckle out of this light hearted read. The illustrations by Dylan Klymenko were cute too.

The author has other books of this style in a series and I cannot wait to collect them all. These would make a great stocking stuffer or birthday gift for people who share a love for sarcasm and light humor.

Oh and one more thing, if you love hashtags.. #MrHumblebrag #blessed #grateful #poor, lol.. then this is definitely for you! ;)

Review: OZ Naturals Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel

We aren't getting any younger ladies!! Wrinkles and crow's feet are almost inevitable! If you're not using anti-aging skin care products now, you'll regret it later!! As a young & TIRED Mom, I noticed I'm starting to show visible signs of aging. Tired eyes are a dead giveaway and I'm always looking for new ways to combat it, when lack of sleep is often.

  • A 2ND KEY INGREDIENT, HALOXYL, is an anti-inflammatory that helps diminish and fade the appearance of dark circles with repeated use.

  • USING THE HIGHEST concentration of natural + active ingredients possible. Never compromising on quality + performance. Efficacious anti aging. Our goal is giving you healthy, beautiful skin in socially + eco-friendly ways.

 MY IMPRESSION:

I really liked this eye gel.
For starters, this product comes in a nice little.5 fl oz pump that distributes a decent amount of product. Once the product is out, it is slightly thick gel-like serum that has a very light and sweet fragrance.  This gel tightens my skin almost immediately after use and I could feel the tightness last. I use it under my makeup and it almost works as a primer for my skin, making it feel more even and toned immediately after I use it. I do not use this only for my eyes. I use it all over my face, focusing mainly on my under eye area, and t-zone.  So far, with just over a week of use, I have noticed my skin tone looking more even, and refreshed.  I think this has to do with the combination of caffeine and Hyaluronic Acid which combats all of my skin problems!
I cannot wait to see my lines disappear with continued use.

I definitely recommend this product and all other OZ Naturals products to everybody!

The Legend of the Christmas Cookie
By Dandie Daley Mackall
Illustrated by Richard Cowdrey

ISBN 978-0-3107-4767-3
Religion/Holidays/Christmas
Age Range: 4-8
32 pages
Retails for: $21.00

ABOUT:
As Jack stepped inside, the heavenly scent of sweet bread and licorice wafted from the kitchen. Cookies! But it couldn't be. Mom put every penny dad sent home straight into the cookie jar. There hadn't been a single cookie in that jar for over a year...

IMPRESSION:
What a cute Christmas book with and even better message. The Legend of the Christmas Cookie is about sharing with others the true meaning of Christmas. Sharing with those less fortunate than ourselves about the birth of Christ the Lord, was the over-all message.  The little boy in the book named Jack has been missing his father while he was away for work, and he had been hoping for his return home. Instead a stranger came to the house looking to share a meal. Jack takes it upon himself to share his realizations about the true meaning of Christmas, and he delivered a cookie with a story behind it, ultimately sharing of Christ's birth.

A couple of simple recipes can be found in the back of the book also so we can make our own Christmas cookies.

I recommend this to all parents of young children, especially those looking to start new traditions with their children, and those looking to spread the true meaning of the Christmas with others.

Book Review: Blessed, Blessed, Blessed by Missy Robertson

BLESSED, BLESSED, BLESSED
By Missy Robertson
ISBN: 978-1-4964-0570-8
Retails for: $25.99

ABOUT:
Missy Robertson knew that marrying duck-hunting Jase Robertson would be an adventure... and she was up to the challenge. Their life together was good (even after Jase grew the beard). They had two children, worked hard to help build the thriving Duck Commander business, and loved to serve GOD.
But after a difficult and risky pregnancy, their daughter, Mia, was born with a cleft palate-a serious condition requiring multiple cranial and facial surgeries. As their baby struggled to breathe, and Missy and Jase faced a life that suddenly looked very different that the one they'd planned, they found themselves staring down one of life's biggest questions: Where is GOD in all this pain?

IMPRESSION:

For starters, I have never watched Duck Dynasty, so I was not familiar with the author's fame until this book and researching their show. I chose this book because of the title and how I felt like I could relate to this book based on it's description.

A little personal backstory, I too have a disabled child, 9 years old. She's had 17 surgeries so far! Times have felt tough and I have often been angry at my relationship with GOD through all the tough times. But through those tough times I have found strength. My own. I marvel at how much my little girl has been through but still manages to have a sweet and constant smile on her face.  I too am very blessed.

Now for this memoir, I'd just like to say I really enjoyed the way Missy and Jase shared their experiences candidly.  Their honesty, and love for eachother and their family was refreshing.  I loved the cover photo of the two of them and the wonderful 8 page color insert spread. More people should include those in memoirs!

This book was a reminder that should stop and realize that celebrities are people too, with real lives and struggles like some of the rest of us. We should always celebrate family, and be humble through all the good and the bad challenges we face.

GOD Bless Mia Robertson. The way her mother wrote about her journey had me in tears because I could relate.  I hope this little girl has a full recovery from all of her procedures and therapies.  What really makes you tear up is Mia's speech that was included at the very end of the book. She wrote about GOD calling her for special purpose just like he did Moses in Exodus. (Exodus 4:10-12) And encourages us to remember that GOD is bigger than our struggles.

I recommend this book to any Duck Dynasty fan, and to any parent of a disabled child. Very insightful read.

Book Review: Bathsheba: Reluctant Beauty By Angela Hunt

Bathsheba: Reluctant Beauty
By Angela Hunt
ISBN:978-0-7642-1696-1
Biblical Fiction
Retails for: $14.99

ABOUT:
Carefully researched,  Author Angela Hunt reimagines the story of Bathsheba,
a notorious woman from the Bible known for being a beautiful woman, the wife of  King David and the mother of Solomon, with a lot of loss and sadness in her life.

IMPRESSION:
I love learning about women from the Bible times.  I was drawn to the cover of the book immediately. The cover photo was gorgeous. The words Reluctant Beauty really stood out to me when I chose to read this book and I can say now after reading it that Bathsheba was exactly that.

As a young child, a prophet named Samuel said Bathsheba will grow to be a beautiful wife of a man of Israel and will bear a son who will do great things for Israel.
When Bathsheba is grown, she is married to Uriah the Hittite, one of King David's soldiers, but she has not given him any children, so she assumed the prophecy was wrong.

King David sees Bathsheba bathing one day and lusts for her beauty, and decides to have her summoned to rape her. She tells the King she was married to Uriah, and the King ignores her pleas and has his way with her. Bathsheba becomes pregnant.

To cover his actions the King calls for Uriah to be sent home to be with his wife whom he hasn't seen for 5 months, but Uriah refused to go home. Instead, he continues to fight for the king and his men. King David then decides to plan for Uriah to be killed.
Later we learn that Bathsheba's grandfather had told Uriah of the King's doings and that is why he didn't go home.

After Uriah the Hittite's death, King David takes Bathsheba as one of his wives where she is taken care of and carries out her pregnancy.

Prophet Nathan comes into the picture and tells King David that he knows of his sins and to redeem himself the infant son must die for his sins.  The unnamed  boy baby dies shortly after birth.  Bathsheba is terribly pained by not one, but 2 losses. The King mourns the loss, but the next day returns to his normal self as if the loss didn't happen.  She blames her beauty and starts to hate the king, but desperately tries to forgive him.

King David apologizes to Bathsheba and then vows to fulfill the prophecy by giving Bathsheba another son and naming him as his heir.  Their second son was named Solomon, who was made King when King David was on his deathbed, keeping his promise.

What I really liked about this story was how no matter the sin, GOD still forgives and wants us to love our sinners and forgive those who sin against us. Bathsheba had to learn to trust in Him.  HE made her beautiful and to her that was considered to be a curse since her beauty came with a price to pay although she was not the sinner.

In the end David had paid for his sins and Bathsheba found herself content with her inner beauty and the prophecy came true.

Most of what you will read in this book come directly from the Bible, but some of it was made up to give some insight into what the characters would have probably been like. I really enjoyed this story because sometimes reading about different people in the Bible, we often forget to imagine them being every day people just like ourselves. Their stories were real, just like our lives are today, even though they happened a really long time ago. This story played out in my head as if it were present day.  Anyways, great read.
