Book Review: Only God Can Make A Kitten by Rhonda Gowler Greene

I got a new children's book last week to read with my daughters and I must say it was very well received.   I chose this particular book because I am always choosing books by their cover without knowing what the story is about. I recently just got my daughter's their very first pet and it was a cat, so I figured this cute book would be some what relatable to us just from what was on the cover.

I was right. The book I chose was:

Only God Can Make a Kitten by Rhonda Gowler Greene & Laura J. Bryant
ISBN: 978-0-910-73170-2
Juvenile Fiction/Religious/Christian/General

The book is about Mom and her inquisitive little boy and their small conversations about creation and where things come from.  The answer to all of her questions is that God made everything. It's very well written to where little children can follow along. What I loved was on the very first page, there was a Bible verse that read:
"God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." Genesis 1:31

This book has beautiful illustrations, and poetic verses that rhyme and you can almost catch your children knowing what the next rhyming word will be if they're listening closely. The story comes to a beautiful ending too when the Mom summarizes everything God makes, including kittens and then says, "But best of all, God made..."

YOU!

My girls (ages 4 & 6) loved this story, as did I reading it to them.

Only God Can Make a Kitten retails for $12.99

Review: Amara Organics Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Giveaway!

I had the privilege to test out the Amara Organics Hyaluronic Acid Serum last week. This product was sent to me complimentary in exchange for an honest review, courtesy of Amara Organics.

Amara Organics is a high quality organic skin care company that is committed to using organic and vegan ingredients in all of their products. They're also animal cruelty free!

This was my first time using a Hyaluronic Acid Serum so I didn't know what to expect.  The product is a powerful anti-aging serum that is used for plumping fine lines and wrinkles into smooth skin, by boosting collagen production and restoring the skin's natural elasticity.  The Vitamin C and E in this product help protect your skin naturally from free radicals.

My first impression was that it was a very thick gel-like serum. It came in a clear 1 fl oz glass bottle and had a pump. It had a pleasant fragrance. This serum when applied to my skin sort of tingled at first but didn't notice anything else about it. It absorbed really fast and wasn't sticky at all.   My skin reacted to this serum though. It turned really red. It was not itchy and did not burn. It just turned red. Not sure if that is a sign that it's stimulating my blood and working or what, but I didn't mind.  After a week of use, my skin feels tighter and slightly more firm along my upper cheeks.  Please check back soon for an update on how my skin is doing!

Amara Organics is hosting a Spring Giveaway for a chance to win 3 of their best selling products (including some of the products shown in the photo below).  If you're interested in winning, please check out my blog post where you can find the giveaway details!

Review: Radha Beauty's Clearing Serum

Thanks for stopping by!  I got to test another product complimentary of Radha Beauty in exchange for my honest review! Today I am reviewing the Radha Beauty Professional Age-Defying Skin Clearing Serum.

Product Description:
This is a unique skin clearing serum that not only helps reverse the signs of aging, it also helps improve the quality of blemished skin and the hyper pigmentation that comes with acne and acne scars by unclogging pores, speed up cellular turnover and creates elasticity.  This serum has a powerful combination of active ingredients such as Retinol, botanical Hyaluonic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide along with Vitamin C as well.
This all natural serum is gentle for all skin types, is animal cruelty free, free from parabens, fillers, dyes and harmful fragrances.

My Impression: This product came in a 1fl oz cylinder pump tube and had a nice heavy feel to it. Was packaged very neatly. When I squirted 1 pump into the palm of my hand, my first impression was that it was very milk-like and extremely runny. To combat this, I applied this serum to my skin with a cotton pad, to avoid a mess. 1 pump actually gives a decent amount of product and approximately only 2 pumps are needed for my whole face and neck.    Another thing to I noticed right away was the smell. This product has a very unique sulfer smell to it. It's not unpleasant but it's definitely not very sweet. It's mildly chemical.  This directions say to use after cleansing and toning face and suggests that you use a moisturize after each use.  After using this product a couple of times, my skin felt very tingly, and then very itchy. Moisturizing afterwards with Radha Beauty Miracle Retinol Moisturizer definitely helped counter the itch. After my 4th use, I noticed my skin peeling. By day 5, most of my existing acne had dried up and I could see my new and very much clearer skin emerging.   The itching, the smell, and the tingling are worth it for a clearer complexion, in my opinion!  I plan to continue using this product and will recommend it to everybody.

This serum retails for $25.89 on the Radha Beauty website!

I have reviewed for Radha Beauty in the past when I tested their Eye Gel and their Miracle Retinol Moisturizer.  I know from experience that this company has amazing products.  To see my past review please visit: http://theboldandthebrewtiful.blogspot.com/2015/02/RadhaBeauty.html

Review: Amara Organics Retinol Serum & Giveaway!

I got to sample a full sized product complimentary from Amara Organics in exchange for my honest review.  This week I tried the Amara Organics Retinol Serum.

Retinol Serum is the #1 recommended anti aging product by dermatologists because it is guaranteed to work! Retinol serums are used for combating the signs of aging, including but not limited to, wrinkles, acne and acne scars.  When used regularly, it works on a molecular level to repair damaged skin, unclog pores and stimulates collagen at the same time. The result is firmer, smoother, wrinkle-free skin!  Using Retinol consistently for at least 12 weeks will give you the best looking skin you can achieve.

This product retails for $19.95 and comes in a dark glass bottle with a pump and it's thick gel-like serum is odorless and slightly yellow. It absorbs quickly and feels very smooth. My skin felt a little bit sticky after each use, but once I applied moisturizer, that feeling went away.  I've only had a week to try this product, but I feel like the pores on my skin are visibly smaller.  Cannot wait to see what extended use will do to my skin.  I will post an update to this blog post with photos of my skin soon!

To use: Apply a couple pumps of the serum to a freshly washed face, neck and follow with a moisturizer. It's suggested to use this product at night, as it can cause skin to become more sensitive to the sun within the first few uses.  A sunscreen can be used to combat sensitivity.

Amara Organics is a high quality organic skin care company that is committed to using natural and vegan ingredients in their products and best of all, they don't test on animals!  This is not the first time I have reviewed their products, but it is the first time I have tried their Retinol Serum, and I have to admit, their products do not disappoint!

This year I have had the chance to review 3 different eye gels from 3 different skin care companies and I have had a hard time deciding which of them was the best!  To be completely honest, in a side-by-side comparison of all 3, they all smelled the same, had very similar consistencies and my skin reacted the same way with each of them.   I will say that the Amara Organics one absorbed into my skin the fastest and the Radha Beauty one smelled only slightly sweeter.  Overall, I'd rate all of these the very same. 5/5 stars. This type of muti-purpose eye gel cools and refreshes my under eye area and makes my skin feel renewed. That's what I want in a product anyways!

Family Time

I am not particularly close to my siblings and so I never get to see their children, however, my brother Kevin brought his children to visit me this past weekend and so I had to capture some pictures!  My nephew Ryan just had his 2nd birthday last Saturday and on his birthday he spent the whole day at my house just playing and being spoiled.  He clearly enjoyed being surrounded by a bunch of princesses.  My daughters Evangeline & Jocelyn and my nieces Natilyn & Cristina all played together for the first time in over a year. It was really fun and everybody had a great time.

Seeing little Ryan, just made me miss my brother Ryan who we lost 2 years ago.  My nephew was named after my brother and it's a bitter sweet deal having one and not the other around.
RIP Ryan Lee Cassidy. I love miss you bub.

Me with my little brothers Ryan (left) and Cody.

Book Review: The Dandelion Field by Kathryn Springer

Do you ever judge a book by its cover?  How do you choose a book? I was browsing books titles in January and looking for a book to review and the cover of this book caught my attention. I didn't read the synopsis or anything about it either. I chose a book because of the cover and I had very little expectations of actually enjoying this book.

The book I am referring to is The Dandelion Field by award winning and USA Today Best SElling Author, Kathryn Springer.

The Dandelion Field centers around a very reserved, and previously damaged woman known as Ginevieve Lightly. Because of being a young & single mother,  she build walls around her & she runs away every time the going got tough. At any time, you can find a packed suitcase for both Gin and her daughter Raine.   Raine is an only child. She's used to the idea of moving around often since her father abandoned her & her mother.  It's not until they wind up in a small town in Wisconsin known as Bannister Falls that they've found their place in the world, but the town and it's residents are not so welcoming, especially when it comes to gossip.  Raine and her boyfriend Cody end up pregnant during their senior year of high school and Raine fears the worst. Will Cody leave her like her father did?  Is college an option with a baby?   What becomes of Raine and Cody? What becomes of Gin and does she welcome the idea of becoming a grandmother?  Well luckily for Gin, she's not alone. She has Cody's mother Evie and a charming local firefighter named Dan Moretti on the journey too, and together they'll figure out how to love one another and make things work.

--------------------------------------------------

This is a Christian fiction story and if you like gossip, assumptions, doubts, fears, happy and sad all in one book, then I highly recommend everybody give this book a read.  It was a tear jerker, with a few laughs along the way. I fell in love with the characters. They all felt very well developed. Their personalities leaped off of the pages!   The chapters of this book are from each characters point of view and it made it really easy to read. The chapters are short too which is a huge pro! Cannot wait to read more stories by Kathryn Springer. She's a great writer!

I personally rate this book 5/5 stars!

This book retails for $15.99 and is published by Zondervan.

Vita Sciences MaxAsorbB12 Review

Vita Sciences is a supplement company based out of New York. They are covered by a money-back guarantee.  This past week I had the privilege to try Maxasorb B-12 in exchange for my honest review.

This product is a cream-based topically applied vitamin serum that contains 320 micrograms of Vitamin B-12, 120 micrograms of Vitamin B3, and 10 micrograms of Folate within each application.  It comes in a pump dispenser which I found to be convenient.  The product comes out in a thick pink serum that smells almost like a minty toothpaste.  Maxasorb B-12 perfect for treating dry skin, itching, wrinkles and other visible signs of aging. Vitamin B12 is essential for maintaining overall energy levels and can help improve fatigue, depression, and vitamin deficiency.

To use this product, the directions say to apply 2 full pumps (1dose) to the inside of your wrist once daily, and rub both wrists together. Simple!  This product is grease-less and is scientifically made for maximum absorption!

After 1 week of use, I have noticed significant skin renewal. My skin is more hydrated and very moisturized in my problem areas.  I have also noticed an increase in my energy level for a short period of time after each dose.

If you're in the market for a new eye gel, then I'd like to share with you a product I recently sampled for testing purposes courtesy of goPURE Naturals in exchange for an honest review.

This product is HIGHLY comparable to one I reviewed recently for Radha Beauty, (see review here: http://theboldandthebrewtiful.blogspot.com/2015/02/RadhaBeauty.html) however,  the goPURE Naturals Eye Gel is cheaper right now. In a side-by-side comparison of these products, I saw no differences.    I recommend both.
